Ursula Martin Obituary

Martin, Ursula Z.
Watertown: 94, died Sat., Dec. 8, at the Latta Road Nursing Home, Rochester. Born Feb. 19, 1913, in Croghan, NY, the daughter of Jonas & Albertine Shinbovene Zehr. She graduated from local schools and earned her B.A. in biology and English from the College of Saint Rose, Albany, and her graduate in education from Geneseo State Teachers College. She worked as a teacher in rural schools in Lewis County for 5 years before moving to Watertown where she taught in the Watertown City School District for 25 years, retiring in 1970. After her retirement she worked for H.E. Weaver, Inc. as a Realtor Associate in Watertown.
She married Oliver A. Martin, Feb. 19, 1941, at St. Stephen's Church, Croghan. Mr. Martin died Sept. 11, 1945.
Surviving are son & daughter-in-law, Samuel A. & Phyllis L. Martin, Rochester; grandson Stephen A. Martin, Webster; 2 sisters-in-law, Ellen Zehr & Millie Zehr, both of Lowville; several nieces & nephews; 2 brothers, Frederick & Gerald Zehr; and a sister Mary Frances Scanlon died before her.
Funeral Mass Thurs., Dec. 13, 10:00 AM at St. Patrick's Church, Watertown, with Rev. Arthur LaBaff officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery, Croghan.
Calling hours 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 Wed. at the Cleveland Funeral Home, Watertown. Do-nations to St. Patrick's Church, 724 Ives St., Watertown, NY 13601, in her memory.
