John F. Wong Fitchburg Housing Authority retiree, vet; 75 FITCHBURG John F. Wong, 75, of Fitchburg, died Friday, Aug. 29, in his home, after a long illness, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He leaves his wife of 15 years, Margo L. (Therrian) Wong; three sons, Stephen Wong and his wife, Kasey, of Los Angeles, CA, Kevin M. Leger of Nashua, N.H., and Jody J. Devarney and his wife, Kristan, of Swansea, N.H.; two daughters, Patricia J. Peterson and her husband, Douglas, of Westminster, and Kathleen A. Hooker of Sarasota, Fl.; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife of 25 years, Theresa L. (Boudreau) Wong, in 1989, and one brother, Thomas J. Wong of Topsfield, MA, and four sisters, Rose, Mary, Anna B. and Catherine "Kay" T. Wong, all of Fitchburg, and a grandson, John Elton Forbes in 1977. Mr. Wong was the Head of Maintenance for the Fitchburg Housing Authority for 25 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of St. Bernard's Parish in Fitchburg, a 1951 graduate of St. Bernard's Central Catholic High School, and was a longtime member of the Fitchburg Lodge of Elks, where he served as a past Exalted Ruler, and was a member of the Fitchburg Amvets. He was a Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He was born in Fitchburg, MA, on October 17, 1932, a son of the late John and Mary A. (Fong) Wong and lived here all of his life. WONG Family and Friends are invited to Graveside Services with Full Military Honors that will be held on Thursday, Sept. 4 at Noon in St. Bernard's Cemetery, off Boutelle St., Fitchburg. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
