Raymond Thibodeau Obituary

Raymond R. Thibodeau of Westminster, Navy vet, WWII; 83 WESTMINSTER Raymond R. Thibodeau, 83, of Westminster, died unexpectedly Friday, September 5, 2008, at the University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester. He was the husband of Doris J. (Landry) Thibodeau who died in November 1991. Mrs. Thibodeau was born in Fitchburg, October 3, 1924, a son of Simon and Premelia (LeBlanc) Thibodeau, and resided many years in Fitchburg before moving to Westminster 30 years ago. He attended the Fitchburg School System. He is survived by his daughter, Linda A. Thibodeau with who he resided in Westminster, a son and daughter-in-law, Robert J. and Lucille Thibodeau of Fitchburg; two grandsons, Philip Thibodeau and Christopher Thibodeau; and a dear friend, Gloria Carlberg of Fitchburg. He was the brother of the late Alfred Thibodeau of Fitchburg, and Lorraine Valliere of Lunenburg. For over 30 years he owned and operated the Raymond R. Thibodeau Construction Company. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until his retirement in 1991. In the early 1960's, Mr. Thibodeau, with his brother, Alfred, built, then for 10 years owned and operated the Rambler Motel, later known as the Town Crier Motel, in Westminster. For four years during WWII, he served his country in the United States Navy. He enjoyed playing cards at the Leominster Senior Center, camping, boating and fishing. He had been a member of the Westminster VFW. He was a longtime communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Fitchburg and had also attended St. Edward the Confessor Church in Westminster. THIBODEAU A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m., Monday, September 8, 2008 at St. Joseph's Church, 49 Woodland St., Fitchburg. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Calling hours are 2-5 p.m., Sunday at the Louis M. Isabelle Funeral Home, 316 Clarendon Street, Fitchburg. Please see www.isabellefuneral.com for additional information.
