Eleanor was my beloved Mother-in-Law, and she embraced me with love from the first day we met in 1971. We shared a great love of "the old songs" of the '30's and '40's, and when I learned she adored Bing Crosby and Al Jolson, we laughed together singing "Mammy", "Sonny Boy", and "Rock a Bye Your Baby with a Dixie Melody". As a child, I cherished the moments I spent with my Grandmother listening to her Al Jolson records and Eleanor helped rekindle those happy childhood memories. When Eleanor told me that she was especially fond of the actor, Davey Lee, who played the young boy in "Sonny Boy", my husband Glenn bought her a big selection of Al Jolson songs. It made her so happy. She also loved "Always" and I remember telephoning her one day from Seattle. As I played "Always" on my piano with the telephone resting beside me, I could hear Eleanor's sweet voice singing the words. Eleanor's love of children was so obvious when she shared with us her love of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. I marvelled at her ability to recite in its entirety "The Children's Hour", so perfectly, so softly, so gently, so sweetly. I can almost hear her today as she would recall "Between the dark and the daylight, When the night is beginning to lower, Comes a pause in the day's occupation, That is know as the children's hour. I hear in the chamber above me, The patter of little feet, The sound of a door that is opened, And voices soft and sweet." Eleanor was the lovely Mother of my dear husband, Glenn, and I shall love her all my life. We cherish a photo of Eleanor, taken in her early '20's, lovingly displayed inside a silver frame, on our piano - so beautiful, so Eleanor.
Love, Marcia Browning Harrington, daughter-in-law.

When I think of Eleanor, I think of her gentle nature, and her kindness. She always looked out for other people, and I always appreciated that she would stop to see me when she visited Florida.
