Lawrence Badagliacca Obituary

Lawrence A. 'Carpo' Badagliacca Local Barber FITCHBURG Lawrence A. "Carpo" Badagliacca, 74, of Fitchburg, died Saturday, October 4, in his home, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born April 13, 1934, in Fitchburg, son of Nancy (DiBenedetto) and the late Gaetano Badagliacca. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1953, and served in the National Guard. Mr. Badagliacca graduated from Barber School in Boston in 1950 at the age of 16, and worked several years with his father at Guy's Barber Shop on Cushing Street in Fitchburg. He continued barbering for his family for many years. After barbering, he worked for the Asher Pant Company in Fitchburg and later worked for his brother, Paul at the former Badag's Kitchen and Bath Center in Fitchburg, as a supervisor in the Fabrication Division. He then worked as a custodian at Fitchburg State College until his retirement. After his retirement, Mr. Badagliacca worked at Yankeeland Campground in Kennebunk, Maine where he summered. Mr. Badagliacca was a member of Saint Anthony de Padua Parish, the Knights of Columbus Council #99, Friends of Coggshall Park, and Friends of the Fitchburg Public Library. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, and cooking. He was an avid Patriots and Red Sox fan, and enjoyed watching college football. Besides his mother, Nancy (DiBenedetto) Badagliacca of Fitchburg, he leaves his wife with whom he would have celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary with on October 12th, Eileen "Dee" (Shields) Badagliacca; one son, James Badagliacca and his wife, Teresa of Fitchburg; three daughters, Nancy Ray and her husband, Randy of Bedford, TX, Joanne Madigan and her husband, Dave of Fitchburg, and Mary Lou Badagliacca Guilfoil of Leominster; one brother, Paul Badagliacca and his wife, Janice of Westminster; three sisters, Rosalie Marabello and her husband, Joseph of Fitchburg, Sister Janet Badagliacca, M.P.V., of Fitchburg, and Sister Pauline Badagliacca, M.P.V. of Rutland; six grandchildren, Nicholas D. Madigan, Craig M. Madigan, Matthew Badagliacca, Justin Badagliacca, Zachary Badagliacca, and Mollie Badagliacca; one aunt, Mary DiBenedetto of Fitchburg; three uncles, Michael DiBenedetto and his wife, Ellie of Fitchburg, Paul Badagliacca of Whalom District, and Babe Ruberti of Leominster; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two nephews, Chris Badagliacca and Richard Shields. BADAGLIACCA The funeral will be held Wednesday, October 8, from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Anthony De Padua Church, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg. Burial will be private in Saint Bernard's Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday, October 7, from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Venerini Sisters Retirement Fund, 23 Edward St., Worcester, MA 01605, or to the Saint Anthony Church Renovation Fund, 84 Salem St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
