Irene Y. Legendre

Irene Y. Legendre lifelong resident of Fitchburg; 91 Fitchburg Irene Y. (Gariepy) Legendre, 91, of Fitchburg, died in St. Vincent's Medical Center Worcester, after an illness. She was born on May 11,1917 in Leominster. The daughter of Ovila and Eva (Lemieux) Gariepy and lived all of her life in Fitchburg. Irene and her late husband Joseph owned and operated Cy's Washing Machine Service and she worked there for over 20 years. Retiring in 1980. Irene was a member of The Ladies of St. Anne, and Ladies Guild at St. Francis of Assisi Church which she was also a member of. She enjoyed playing cards and needlework. She worked many years at bingo for St. Francis of Assisi Church. She was a big fan of the Patriots and Red Sox. She also enjoyed spending time with her grand-children and great-grandchildren. She leaves her daughters, Theresa M. and her husband Mark Morin of Westminster, and Lucille M. and her husband Rick Miller of Merrimack NH; her brother Francis Gariepy of Leominster; grandchildren, Amy Williams, Nicole Groskreutz, Adam Morin, Joshua Miller, Sarah Miller, Jonathan Miller, and her great-grandchildren Kayleigh and Connor Williams. Her husband of 54 years J. Aurele Joseph Legendre died in 2006. LEGENDRE The funeral will be held from the Lavery Chartrand & Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St., Fitchburg, with a Mass Friday October 10, 2008 at 10 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 81 Sheridan St. The Interment will follow in St. Cecilia's Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday evening from 5 until 7 pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O.
