Paul Arsenault Obituary

Paul J. Arsenault Fitchburg businessman, Air Force vet; 68 FITCHBURG Paul J. Arsenault, 68, of Fitchburg, died Friday evening, Oct. 10, in his daughter's home, after a long illness. He was born in Fitchburg, on Feb. 21, 1940, a son of the late Premelite and Irene (Robichaud) Arsenault, and has lived here all of his life. He graduated from St. Bernard's High School in 1957 and joined the U.S. Air Force where he served on bases in Turkey and Maine with the Air Force Police before being honorably discharged in 1961. Paul owned and operated his own trucking company for many years prior to his retirement. He loved spending time with his family especially traveling with his son to watch his grandchildren's Junior Drag Races. He also enjoyed visiting relatives in Canada and trips to Maine. He was also an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. He leaves two sons, Philip D. Arsenault and his wife, Barbara of Leominster, and Paul J. Arsenault, Jr., of Fitchburg; a daughter, Kristine A. Arsenault of Fitchburg; three grandchildren, Heather Arsenault and Jacob Arsenault, both of Leominster and Sara Arsenault of Fitchburg; a sister, Pauline M. Lashua and her husband, William of Ashburnham; and many nephews and nieces. He is predeceased by his former wife, Barbara F. (Fairbanks) Arsenault who died in 2007, and a daughter, Betty A. Arsenault who died in 1980. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Diversified VNA-Hospice for their compassion and care. ARSENAULT A graveside service will be held on Monday, Oct. 20, at 3:00 p.m. at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen St., Winchendon. There are no calling hours. The Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St. is directing the funeral arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Diversified VNA-Hospice, 25 Tucker Dr., Leominster, MA 01453 or to the VA Hospital, 150 South Huntington Ave., Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. www.masciarellifamilyfuneralhomes.net
