Paul Bergevin Obituary

Paul H. Bergevin Navy Veteran WWII, Former owner Pizza Chateau FITCHBURG Paul H. Bergevin, died Thursday, October 16, 2008, at Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster, after an illness. He was born in Fitchburg, MA, August 12, 1925 to Eustache Bergevin and Delvina (Blanchard) Bergevin. He served on the USS Baltimore as a cook from 1942 to 1945. He was also in the Navy Reserve from 1947 to 1954. He worked as a cook in a number of local restaurants both full and part time some of which included the Windmill on the waterfront at Whalom Lake, The Pinehurst in Fitchburg, and Norma Jeans in Leominster where he met his future wife, Marion June Pierce. He worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as a Corrections Officer Chef. After retiring, he and his wife purchased The Pizza Chateau in Cleghorn which they and family ran until 1999. During his life, he was a member of The Amvets of Leominster, former President of the South Fitchburg Hunting and Fishing Club, South End National Club, and the South Fitchburg Social Club. He is survived by his close companion of 8 years Dorothy (Dot) Koch of Fitchburg. He is also survived by his four children, Paula Valente of Fitchburg, Pauline Stockwell and her husband, Norman of Lunenburg and New Smyrna Beach, FL, Paulette Cormier who provided primary care, of Fitchburg, and John Paul Bergevin and his wife, Vanessa of East Haven, CT; his seven grandchildren, Catrina (Valente) Robinson and her husband, Rich of Fitchburg, Jason Valente of Lunenburg, Patric Stockwell of Lunenburg, and New Smyrna Beach, FL, David & Stephanie Cormier of Fitchburg, Paul & Danielle Bergevin of East Haven, CT; and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Rita Langelier of East Brookfield, MA; as well many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Marion in 1998, his infant sister, Rachael Bergevin, and sisters, Blanche Leger, Delvina "Toots" St. Onge, Helen Jarvis, and Marie-Jean Day. BERGEVIN The funeral will be held Tuesday, October 21, from Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in Saint Francis Church, Sheridan St., Fitchburg. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Saint Joseph Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, Oct-ober 20, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. in the funeral home.

Sympathies go out to the family of Paul. We have known him for many years as officers of the South Fitchburg Hunting & Fishing Club. Paul was "one of a kind" kind of guy that doesn't come along too often. Rest in peace our friend.
