Colleen Garvey Kueter of Leominster; 40 Leominster Colleen Garvey Kueter, 40, of Leominster, beloved wife of Jens C. Kueter died peacefully at her home on Friday, October 17, 2008 after a brief, courageous battle with liver cancer. She was born in New Milford, CT on March 18, 1968, the daughter of Jeanne (Wolter) Garvey Stax of Southbury, CT and the late Henry Hulton Garvey, Jr. Educated in New Milford, Colleen graduated from Canterbury School and received a bachelor degree from Simmons College in Boston. Her business career began at GE Capitol in Danbury, CT, followed by employment with the State of Connecticut, Dept. of Administrative Services in Hartford, CT. She later worked at iCast.com in Woburn, MA and Press Access in Boston. In addition to her husband and mother, she will be sadly missed by her beloved children, Anneke Maeve Kueter, 5, and Friedrich "Fritz" Henry Kueter, 2; her stepfather William J. Stax of Southbury, CT; her brother Henry "Hank" Garvey III and wife Mary of Newburyport, MA; her sister Kendra Garvey Owen and husband Richard of Northborough, MA; stepsister Carol Stax Brown and husband Charles of Cedar Rapids, IA; stepbrother William F. Lillis of New Milford, CT; mothers-in-law Janice Goodger of Pagosa Springs, CO; Cindy Kueter of Oakland, ME and father-in-law Hubert Kueter and Nancy Brooks of Oakland, ME; several aunts, uncles, cousins, schoolmates and many friends. Colleen's interests and accomplishments were many and varied. A self taught knitter, spinner and wool dyer, she recently started an online business called Spiffy Knits. She spoke fluent French, loved gardening, cooking and web-surfing. Colleen was an avid reader, diligent researcher and a masterful writer. She possessed a keen sense of humor, wonderful wit, a brilliant mind and was a wealth of knowledge. She was also passionate about conservation and environmental issues. Colleen and Jens both enjoyed hiking and skiing together and treasured family time. Among her most joyous moments in life were the birth of Anneke and Fritz and the great pleasure of being a stay-at-home mother. Although Colleen was small in stature, she made up for it in her spirit and strength. She was a member of Tiny Lady Cooperative and the Leominster MOMS Club. Colleen's family thanks the MOMS Club, friends, neighbors and extended family for all the generosity and kindness during this difficult time. I can't even express to you the loss we all share. Having known Colleen, through Mimi since we were kids, it was as if she was always there. I can remember her sitting in front of the fireplace in the living room during many a game of Trivial Pursuit, just laughing and smiling. Her smile could light up any room she may have entered. Colleen will truly be missed by so many in so many ways. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, her family and friends. She will always be with us because what we hold dear, we hold in our hearts. May God hold you in His care as you go throught his difficult time.

Jeanne, Linda and the entire Wolter family, please accept my sympathy at the loss of your beautiful Irish colleen.
You may remember I had the privilege of teaching her in fifth grade religion class. What a joy to have in class; she was wise well beyond her years. She was most of all sweet and kind.
I will pray for all of you as well as her children.

I remember dance class when we were five, I remember sleepovers and singing into hair brushes, I remember Colleen reading me a favorite poem in the forth grade from Shel Silverstiens book Where the Sidewalk Ends. I read that poem to my kids from time to time and I always think of Colleen. These will continue to be cherished memories for me and I wanted to share them with you. I am deeply sorry for your loss and will keep your famlies in my prayers.
