Edna Richard Obituary

Edna S. Richard of Lunenburg, United Parish member; 90 LUNENBURG Edna S. (Syrjala) Richard, 90, of Lunenburg, died Friday, Nov. 7, in the Golden Living Center in Fitchburg. Edna was born in Fitchburg, on Nov. 9, 1917, and grew up there attending Fitchburg Schools. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Hilda (Pakala) Syrjala, and she has lived in Lunenburg since 1966. Several years ago, Edna worked in the heddle department at the Abbott Wooster Mill in Wilton, NH. She is a member of the United Parish of Lunenburg, and a former member of the Lunenburg Women's Club. She leaves her husband of 43 years, Francis C. Richard of Lunenburg; a step-daughter, Anne M. Fitch and her husband, Elliott of Fitchburg. She is predeceased by her first husband, Robert Mallow, Sr. who died in 1958, a son, Robert Mallow, Jr. who died in 1977, and a sister, Elvie E. Erickson who died in 2002. RICHARD A brief prayer service will be held on Wednesday morning, Nov. 12, at 11:00 a.m. in the Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Massachusetts Ave., followed by a burial in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Wilton, NH. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 11, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A memorial service will take place in the United Parish of Lunenburg on Thursday, Nov. 20, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to the United Parish of Lunenburg, 39 Main St., Lunenburg, MA 01462. www.masciarellifamilyfuneralhomes.net.
