Earl Stacey Obituary

Earl W. Stacey active at Fitchburg Senior Center, vet; 89 FITCHBURG Earl William Stacey, 89, of Fitchburg, died Saturday, November 22, at Golden Living Center. Earl was born in Fitchburg, February 21, 1919, the son of John and Florence (Thompson) Stacey, and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1937. He was a veteran of World War ll and served with the 2nd Armored Division with the rank of Sergeant in the medical battalion. He took part in D Day, was in the Battle of the Bulge, served in Africa, Sicily and England among others. He was a member of the V.F.W., The Battle of the Bulge Club, and the International Veterans Corps. Earl was a member of the Hall of Fame Committee of Fitchburg High School. He was program coordinator for the Senior Center for 12 years, and a member of the Senior Center Booster Club, The St. Francis Senior Whist Club, and the St. Joseph Friendship Club. Earl was employed for 20 years at the Hope Rubber Co., and 10 years as an accountant at Fitchburg Gas and Electric Co. now Unitil. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Bible study group. Earl leaves his wife of 52 years, Edith A. (Christie) Stacey. They were married June 30, 1956. His daughters, Diane L. Stacey of Fitchburg, Corrine A. Beauvais and her husband, Dwayne of Westminster, Christine F. Stacey and her husband, Philip Lefebvre of Atkinson, NH; his brother, John Edward Stacey of Kingwood, Texas; his brother-in-law, Lloyd Stacey of Chateuguay, Quebec, Canada; his grandchildren, Katalin Beauvais of Gardner, Brendan J, Beauvais and Jesse P. Beauvais of Westminster; many nieces and nephews. His brothers, Orrin Stacey and Sherman Stacey, and his sisters, Eunice Hawkins and Lillian Stacey predeceased him. STACEY Funeral services with military honors for Earl will be held on Wednesday, November 26, at 11 A.M., at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1200 John Fitch Hwy. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Cemetery. Calling hours in the Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St. are Tuesday, November 25 from 3 to 7 P.M. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1200 John Fitch Hwy, Fitchburg, MA or to the Hillcrest Nursing Center Recreational Fund, 94 Summer St., Fitchburg, MA 01420.
