Margaret Leo Obituary

Margaret E. (Reilly) Leo of Pepperell, formerly of Fitchburg; 87 PEPPERELL Margaret E. (Reilly) Leo, 87, of Pepperell, and former longtime Fitchburg resident, died Wednesday, in the Apple Valley Rehabilitation Center in Ayer after a long illness. She was born in Fitchburg, on July 5, 1921, a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Margaret (Sprowson) Reilly. She graduated from St. Bernard's High in 1939. Mrs. Leo was an Executive Administrator at the former Independent Lock Company for many years before its closing and later worked in the cafeteria at North Middlesex Regional High School before retiring. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Pepperell. She excelled in knitting and crocheting and donated hundreds of blankets to nursing homes and other organizations in need. Her husband, Peter Leo, died in 2005. She leaves one nephew, John F. Reilly of Townsend, who helped in the care of Mrs. Leo; two nieces, her Godchild, Maureen Dutton of Pahrump, NV, and her main caretaker, Kathleen L. Vowles of Leominster; and many nieces and nephews, along with a group of loving neighbors. Besides her husband she was predeceased by three brothers, Thomas N., John B., and Donald W. Reilly. LEO Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 6, from the Smith-Mallahy-Masciarelli Funeral Home, 243 Water St., Fitchburg, with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Bernard's Church, 240 Water St., Fitchburg. Burial will in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Fitchburg at a later date. Calling hours at the funeral home will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. www.masciarellifamiyfuneralhomes.net
