Jean was born in Stamford, Conn. on Nov. 28, 1920, the daughter of Francisco and Carmella (Sabia) DeFormato. She graduated from Stamford High School. She worked for several years as a secretary in several capacities.
Jean served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was a life member of the D.A.V. Disabled American Veterans, the USS Constitution, WAVES International Auxiliary Unit #17. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Church and sang in the choir. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Worcester County Ladies Golf Association. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Jean leaves her husband of 42 years, Donald D. Mackey. They were married Oct. 11, 1955. She also leaves her daughter, Michelle A. Rousseau and her husband, Paul, of Litchfield, N.H; her sons, Loran Scott of Bridgewater and Greg Mackey of Arizona; her sister, Ann Donnaly of Stamford, Conn.; and eight grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brothers, William and Peter DeFormato; and her sisters, Nellie Tata, Em Glasso, Frances DeFormato and Pamela Burns.
MACKEY -- A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of the Lake Church, 1400 Main St., Leominster. Burial with military honors will be in Evergreen Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 10-10:30 a.m. in the Bosk Funeral Home, 85 Blossom St., Fitchburg.
