He was born on Dec. 17, 1925, in Leominster, the son of Leo and Irene (Joyal) Preville. He attended Saxon Trade. Mr. Preville was a World War II veteran of the United States Army and Merchant Marines, where he served as a Military Policeman, serving in the 63rd AAA Gun Battalion. He earned the Army Occupational Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Meritorious Medal Wreath. He worked as a tool and die maker for Crisci Tool & Die and Leominster Tool & Die. He was a member of St. Cecilia’s Parish, Franco-American War Veterans, St. Jean’s Club, and was an avid golfer, bowler and family man.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria A. (Plette) Preville of Leominster; three sons, Gerard Preville, Steven Preville and Daniel Preville, all of Leominster; three daughters, Norma Roberts and husband, Paul, of Leominster, Ann Daniels and husband, Rick, of Troy, N.H., Christine Elkins and husband, Gary, of Fitchburg; a brother, Paul Preville and wife, Betty, of Leominster and Florida; two daughters-in-law, Pat Fuller and Doreen Tucker; 12 grandchildren, Lawrence Preville, Lisa M. Roberts and Aimee Finn, Derek Preville, Shawn Preville, Nicole Preville, Keith Preville, Scott Preville, Erin and Joshua Elkins, Craig Elkins and Travis Preville; 11 great-grandchildren, Isaiah, Ryan, Felicia, Jayleen, Adrian, Christopher, Nyasia, Shalyn, Jordan, Kaylee and Chyanne. He was predeceased by a son, Lawrence E. Preville, who died on June 21, 1974; a grandson, Elijah Preville, who died on April 13, 2003; and two brothers, Raymond Preville and Robert Preville.
PREVILLE -- A funeral with military honors will be held from the Wright-Roy Funeral Home, 109 West St., Leominster, on Friday, Nov. 9, with a funeral Mass at 8:30 a.m. in St. Cecilia Church, 168 Mechanic St., Leominster. Burial will be in St. Cecilia’s Cemetery in Leominster. Calling hours will be Thursday, Nov. 8, from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home. We are so sorry to hear about Norman. I am so glad we were able to see him before we left on our trip. We are in Texas at Donna's when we heard the news on our way towards CA.

Sorry for the loss of your father, grandfather, and my "adopted grandfather". My thoughts and prayers are with everyone through this difficult time.
I am grateful that I was able to spend some time with him when I was up north last week. I will always have very fond memories of the times spent with the family.
