She was born on Jan. 20, 1922, in Fitchburg, daughter of the late William N. and Addie B. (Terry) Filiau. Mrs. MacLean worked for the former Celluplastics in Fitchburg for 17 years before her retirement. She enjoyed cooking for her family, reading, and sewing but her family was the most important thing to her. She would play cards and games with her grandchildren, and they will miss all the wonderful times spent on the lake swimming and playing badminton.
The New Year’s Eve pizza parties with “Doad” will never be forgotten, she made their time with her idyllic. She bestowed a certain constancy in everyone’s life, you knew she would always be there.
She was predeceased by her husband of 51 years, Donald “Ozzie” MacLean Sr. in 1989; her son, Donald “Ozzie” MacLean Jr. in 2006; her brothers, Webster and Robert Filiau; and her sisters, Midge Rostedt, Florence Moses, Jessie Chandler, Irene Martino, and Roberta Lucci. She leaves her daughter, Marilyn “Sue” Jewell and her husband, Perry; her son, Barry B. MacLean; one sister, Lillian Storms of Florida; four grandchildren, W. Kyle Planitzer, Marnie MacLean Dean and her husband, Tom, Kerry B. Planitzer and his wife, Sheila, and Erin MacLean and her partner, John McNamara; three great-grandchildren, Camden Dean, Keith Planitzer and Cassidy Dean.
MACLEAN -- The funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. in Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg. Burial will follow in Saint Bernard’s Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday, Dec. 3, from 4-7 p.m. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats, P.O. Box 142, Lunenburg, MA 01462.

My aunt, Nora O'Leary, worked with Donald, Jr. at Western Union at one point in time and she spoke highly of him. As a young person, who loved basketball, I remember Barry as a player at Fitchburg High. My thoughts go out to all on the death of your mother. I just lost my mother on Nov. 9 so I can equate with how you feel. My thoughts are with you.
