Lisa Michelle Andrews Obituary
Born on June 6, 1979 in Garden City, Kansas, Lisa graduated from Park Hill High School in 1997. She was loving, forgiving, smart, independent and strong willed. She was fiercely loyal to her friends and what she believed in. From the child that her family knew Lisa developed well into the woman she had become. We are proud of her and her accomplishments. She was a member of the U.S. Army Reserves and was currently serving with the 129th Transportation Company in Kuwait in Operation Enduring Freedom and was home on leave when she died.
She was proud of her commitment to the U.S. Army. She felt honored to serve in the 129th with her fellow soldiers. In civilian life, Lisa was a Department Manager with Nordstrom's and loved her work and her fellow Nord-strom associates. Our family would like to thank all of Lisa's friends that gave her so much love and joy. They were her family also.
Lisa's smile would light up the world and in the face of adversity she would still find a way to be happy and make others happy. The world is a dimmer place for her passing. Left to cherish her memory is her father, Bruce Andrews and wife Bonnie of Fort Collins, CO. Her mother Cindy Cartmill and husband Steve of Goodyear, AZ. Her brother Ryan Andrews and wife Stephanie of Amarillo, TX, Brother Nick Andrews of Overland Park, KS. Step-sister Liz Parker, step-brothers Robby and Charley Parker of Fort Collins, CO. Step-sister Jennifer Noel of Urbandale, IA and step-brother Steve J. Cartmill of Phoenix, AZ. Grandparents Chuck and Susie Andrews of Wichita, KS, Uncle Greg Lynch of Arlington, VA and Uncle Dan Andrews and Aunt Dianne of Wichita, KS. Cousins Brandon and Logan Andrews of Wichita, KS, Aimee Lynn and Sarah Andrews of Wichita, KS.
Lisa was laid to rest in Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, Kansas.

It has been a little over 4 years now and we miss her just as much now as we did when she was taken from us. I was a friend and admirer of hers she was a rock for those of us who were weak in moments of hardship. She held me up when I had trouble standing on my own. She cried with me when I need to let it all out she was a friend, Soldier and a sister in my eyes and heart. I don't pretend to know what to say or do that would bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. I knew Lisa years ago, when she was in middle school. Her and my daughter Natalie were the "bestest of friends". She often spent the night at our house. I remember fondly the times we all watched a rented movie, or took a trip to the mall. As the girls entered high school, their paths crossed less and less. However, I remember seeing her at the Penney's store after graduation and it was then I found out she was going to serve our country. What a wonderful, special person Lisa was in life! I met Lisa two years ago. It was kinda funny actually. When I met her she was changing her hair style every other day. I introduced myself, for a second time, and she looked at me and said "are you serious"? I said yes. Then she told me we met yesterday! I said you looked different yesterday. She laughed and explained the hair thing to me. Lisa is a very special person. She will be with Nordstrom Oak Park forever. I miss her every day but treasure the time we got to spend together. I lost one of my best friends last Friday. My daughter, Spc. Marquez, Antoinette, was devastated when she heard the news of Lisa's death. She and Lisa were activated together back in January and deployed in April. We are storing some of Lisa's personal things from her stay at Ft. Riley. My daughter has been asked to speak at Lisa's military memorial in Kuwait. I hope if she gets her 15 day R&R, she can return Lisa's things to her family. My daughter will speak up loud and clear for Lisa at the memorial today, it's what Lisa would have done for her.
