Tracy Howard Obituary
Mrs. Tracy Marie Knox Howard, 44, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, October 18, 2006, at the home of her dear friend and caregiver, Pam Hitchner.
Born in Chatham County on October 12, 1962, she grew up in Pierce County but had lived in Jacksonville, Florida for many years before moving back to Pierce County over a year ago. Tracy was a musician at heart – singer, song writer and guitar player. Her passion was southern rock and for ten years she had been a member of the band, Too Many Shoes, which played in South Georgia and North Florida. She had also played in other bands over the last twenty years. Tracy had a love for animals, especially strays, and loved to ride horses. She was a member of the Blackshear Presbyterian Church and was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia “Pat” Moore Knox, who passed away in 1993.
Survivors are her husband, Stephen Patrick “Pat” Howard of St. Marys; two sons, Robert Halston Howard of Denver, CO and Marshall Knox Crews of Waycross; her father, John Knox of Blackshear; a brother and sister-n-law, Cory & Penny Knox of Blackshear and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Howard will be held Saturday morning, October 21, 2006 at 11:00 o’clock from the Blackshear Presbyterian Church.
Interment will be in the Blackshear Cemetery.
Visitation for Mrs. Howard will be held on Friday evening from 6 until 9 at the funeral home.
The family will also be receiving friends at the home of her brother, Cory Knox, 3008 Sun Creek Lane, Blackshear.
Mrs. Howard will lay in state at the church an hour prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Hospice Satilla, 317 Plant Ave., Waycross, GA 31501 or to the Blackshear Presbyterian Church, PO Box 607, Blackshear, GA 31516.

I knew Tracy from Blackshear High School and mutual friends. One day around her revealed to me she was someone I'd never forget. A pleasure to have met, I knew she was far beyond her years with her sense of humor, charm and talent mixed with a profound outlook on life and infinite wisdom coming from a teenager! Her viewpoint on an incident once made me think "if everyone thought like Tracy what a better place this would be" our lives are more richer for having known her.

My Dear Friend:
I regret so much that we did not stay in touch over the years. You were 17 and I was 19 and we had a ball! We played great golf. We worked so hard, we even dug house foundations and did farm work to make ends meet. We talked about spiritual things, health and herbs. Then you would come over to the house and you, I, Kelvin and Kelly would sing and make music. I knew you were good, but I never imagined you would take it so far. I thank the Heavens that I was able to talk to you last month - after almost 20 years. I love you my friend.

Not only will I miss Tracy as a musician but I will miss her terribly as a dear and cherished friend. Tracy always said she looked up to me and admired my inner strength, which is nothing compared to hers. Tracy was the stongest and most talented person I've even known. She could handle the worst adversity and turn it into an amazing song. I will love her always and be grateful for knowing her for all these years.
