I am deeply saddened to learn that Laurie will no longer grace us with her passion for learning and service. It is our loss as a social work profession as she was commited to helping others overcome obstacles. She demonstrated her passion by her high academic standards. Laurie was a dedicated student and brought a great deal into my classroom in the BSW program at JSU. As one of her professors, I believe we both grew as she rose to meet all challenges and helped me become a better teacher. She was truly motivated to obtain her degree despite her health concerns. I will miss her and hope that your family finds solace in her accomplishments within her too short life. My prayers are with your family.

My sympathies to Laurie's family and friends. As new faculty at JSU, Laurie was in my first semester classes Fall 2006. She was an unusually open student in my classes, always helpful to and tolerant of me as a "newbie to JSU" instructor--and always helpful to her friends and classmates at JSU. She will be missed, especially after her success with her BSW, ready to offer so much more to others in her life and new career.

Amy (and Family)

I am deeply saddened to hear of Laurie's passing. This is truely unexpected and quite shocking to learn of...There are really no words to convey the depth of sorrow I feel for you all.

This Year, 2007 has just been a year of emotional experiences. Learning this news is unfortunately for me- yet another affirmation of how we must continue living life-

We really and truly must make each day count. We must embrace life, and live it to its fullest as Tomorrow is never promised.

Losing a loved one is never something we truely grasp. Losing one during the Holiday season just intensifies that loss- I understand that grief and pain as I just experienced my father's 9th year of parting on 12/21-

I am praying that God give you the strength, the courage, and the fortitude to get through this as best you can. Please know that even though I can not physically be there to show my respect, I am with you in my thoughts and prayers.

You are cared for and You are loved-

God Bless you all.

I am so sorry for your loss. Laurie was a wonderful person. She would visit my grandmother who lived next door to her just about every day and if my son was there, she would alway play with him and give him a toy everytime she saw him. She was wonderful with children and she will be greatly missed by everyone. God Bless her family, you are all in my prayers.

I will miss you baby girl. The time has come that no more pain will be with you. For you are at peace now. The only pain now, is you leaving life too early. With so much more to give. I thank your parents for sharing such a loving person. May we all that knew you pass that love & nurturing demeanor on to others. I have much respect, and love for you baby girl. Will always love and miss you.

Laurie always made softball so much fun! I'll never forget all the goofy things she did or said, her disdain for all things girly, but most of all, how much she LOVED the game.

She was a truly kind and "real" person that is so rare today, and I am very glad that I got to know her.
