William Cully Obituary

CULLY, William Paul "Bill" The memorial service for William Paul "Bill" Cully, 81, will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, October 27, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1715 Broad River Road, officiated by Rev. William Powell and Rev. George Head. Arrangements are being handled by Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia. Mr. Cully died Thursday, (October 18, 2007). Born in Hartford, he was the oldest son of William Brennan and Catherine Scully Cully. He served in the US Army as Master Sergeant of the 43rd Division Army Band. He led his own band, The Bill Cully Orchestra in Richmond, VA in the 1960's. He especially enjoyed playing his trombone when his wife could join him as the dance band singer. He also worked many years in the insurance business. Bill's quick wit, sense of humor, and positive attitude endeared him to many, including those who lovingly cared for him these last few years whether at Lexington Medical Center, NHC of Lexington, or Harbison Hall Assisted Living. He loved his friends with a passion and there were many; his family is grateful for all the help they provided. He was a very devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Jackie Cully, their son, Terry Wayne Cully, and sisters, Grace Sullivan and Genevieve Guiffre. Surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jack and Joan Cully of Hartford, Don and Renee Cully of Richmond, VA; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Ed Diesel and sister, Lorraine Meade all of Hartford; daughter-in-law, Nancy H.
