Raymond Labbe Obituary

LABBE, Raymond J. Raymond J. Labbe, 56, of Glastonbury, fell asleep in the Lord's arms at his home on Tuesday (February 24, 2009). He was born in Berlin, NH on May 21, 1952, a son of the late Julien O. and Florence R. (Tremblay) Labbe. He attended local schools, and was a 1970 graduate of Notre Dame High School. Raymond was married to Linda A. (Dupuis), and the two made their home in Connecticut where they raised two daughters. He had been employed at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for 10 years. After a bout with cancer and a miraculous recovery, he led his family on a life of adventure, serving two years delivering international aid on a cargo ship with Friendship Ministries. In 1990 he founded Isaiah 58 Ministries, bringing the love of God to all in need in New Britain. An avid fisherman and fly tyer, he loved to camp with his wife and cook dinner by the campfire. At home he cooked with passion for his family, and was happiest surrounded by his family and grandson. He came to life in three places: ministering to the lonely and needy, in the woods and at home with his family. His absence is keenly felt and he is deeply loved. Raymond is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of over 36 years, Linda of Glastonbury, his daughters Robin Leigh Labbe of Brooklyn, NY and Jillian Mae Moskites and her husband Joshua of Cromwell. He is also the very proud grandpa of Oliver Ray, born June 13, 2008. Raymond is also survived by his in-laws Lucien and Lucia Dupuis of Berlin, NH, his brother Leo Labbe and his wife Carol of Clovis, CA, his sister Cecile Labbe of Berlin, NH, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Lucien Labbe. Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday, February 27, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Fleury-Patry Funeral Home, 72 High Street in Berlin, NH using the School Street entrance. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 28, at 11 a.m. at St. Anne Church of Good Shepherd Parish, 345 Pleasant Street in Berlin, NH with the Reverend Richard Roberge officiating.

Dear Linda & family,

God's love through Ray touched us all in so many ways. Ray was an answer to many, many peoples prayers. Thank God that Ray dedicated his life to fulfill God's special dream for him. His obedience to God's dream has and will continue to inspire many others to embrace His call upon their lives. Ray's life is a testimony showing that the most happiest and most fulfilled place possible is in the will of God.

God's love through us to you.......

Our family met Ray through his ministry in New Britian. We were blessed to serve with him in his ministry of feeding others. His smile and warm ways will always be remembered by those who met him. Our children are better people for having met and served with Ray. My dad once said that he often wondered what a saint looked like and then remarked that he had met one and he wore a red baseball cap. May the legacy of this wonderful man continue in the work that he started. We are so blessed to have met him. Our prayers are with his family at this time.

Dear Linda: Our loss......heavens' gain. Our deepest sympahthies' and prayers to you and the girls. I'm so glad that I was able to see you both on Friday, the 20th. Ray was always glowing in Jesus no matter what. Everytime that I asked him: "Ray, so how are you doing?"...his response, "Super..naturally", will never be forgotten. Ray was one of a few that really emanated Jesus to me always. Both Debbie and I would like to thank you for the friendship that you both showed us down through the years. We love you, and will remember Ray in a very special way. He always would say..."Is Jesus still on the Throne?". My answer now is "Yes! ...but He now has one more sheep in His lap."

Linda and children and Cecile Labbe:
I'm so sorry to hear about Ray. We all went to Notre Dame together and then heard about his bout with cancer in the prime of his life--as he put it, a life-changing experience. This is when he found our Lord Jesus Christ and he--and all of you--reveled in his joy. I have to say that after our few visits later, I was very happy and proud of all of you, for the dedicated lives you've led and the way so many people benefitted from your generous and loving ways.

Linda,
it's been probably 10 years since we last were involved with Isaiah 58 but please know that you and your family are in our prayers and that you and Ray had a very positive impact on our lives through your ministry work.
Sincerely,

Linda, Jillian & Robyn,

Know that even though I won't make it up to Berlin to be with you, that you are all in our prayers. I'll always smile when I think about Ray... his personality sparkled ... especially when talking about his girls or about Jesus. I can't wait to be re-united someday in heaven with him. I'm sure he's rejoicing now with his Lord. God Bless you all. Hold on to those warm memories and know that your dad loved you.

Ray Labbe was probably the most giving person I ever met. He always had a smile on his face and made everyone around him feel loved and special. My heart is sad for Linda, his girls, his grandson, and the many friends who will miss him, but I know a part of him, his wonderful spirit will always be with us. I feel privileged to have known Ray Labbe.

Hi Linda,
You may not remember me but I am Dick Lapointe's sister Louise.....Growing up Dick Paul and Ray were always together spent many fun times at Elm Steet Market with Armand and Juliette Quintal (owners of Elm Street Market)......I always liked Ray and enjoyed it when he got together with Dick.....My heart goes out to you and your family........Sounds like Ray lived a very full but short life....In the end it's not the years in your life but the life in your years..........He put a lot of life in his years.....
May God keep you well with all the beautiful memories you will be in good hands...........

Take Care

Lots of Hugs to all............
