I did not know Richard at all. I met his wife in the ICU waiting room. Getting to know her I know that he was loved and a very good man. Praying for her and his family. They will be in my thoughts and prayers daily.

Richard was a sweet and honest man. It's hard to let go of those we love. Everyday there will be a moment when one of his friends or family members will think Rich would have liked that! Live everyday to the fullest, love those closest to you, hold them close- because tomorrow may be your last.

After living my entire life in Denison, I moved away in '96. Prior to that, with the exception of the three years Richard & I spent in the USMC, there was scarcely a day that went by that he & I didn't spend at least some of each day together. We even hooked up in Okinawa for a few hours when Rich was stationed there & I was stationed at Iwakuni, Japan & was enroute to the Phillipine Islands for a few months. That's just what friends do.
I felt like family, having spent lots of time at Blackie & Lucy's house & being around all Richard's brothers & sister. I also made the rounds at Kemp visiting Richard's aunts, uncles, & cousins many times.
Since I moved away, I hadn't seen Rich very often, but the friendship remained. Richard, I hated to see you go, but we'll all do that one day as part of God's plan. We'll meet again, so I expect you to have the stereo cranking when I get there. Heck, maybe we can throw a DHS class of '71 reunion.
You'll be missed. Semper Fi & we'll catch you Tuesday.
