Sept. 29, 1922 - March 14, 2008

James E. Laheney, 85, Venice since 1989, formerly of Ramsey, N.J., died March 14, 2008.
A Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Venice. National Cremation Society & Memorial Center, Sarasota, handled arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Florence; daughters Kathleen of North Port, Patricia Kolb of Ramsey and Barbara Guido of Clearwater; sons James Jr. of Honolulu, John of Palm Harbor and Michael of Mahwah, N.J.; and seven grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Manhattan College, a CPA of New York State, a veteran of World War II and a Catholic. At his retirement in 1987, he was vice president of UBS Securities in New York. He was a volunteer driver for Venice Meals on Wheels, a former volunteer for the Green Butterfly in Venice, Fla., and a former member of Knights of Columbus in Ramsey, N.J.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Venice Area Mobile Wheels Inc. (Meals on Wheels), 920 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34285.
He lived life doing random acts of kindness. Continuing his legacy, the family requests all to do an act of kindness on his behalf. Condolences may be shared at www.mem.com.
