I'm a former Houstonian that was also inspired by Mr. Miller's work on the "Eye's of Texas". We made vacation plans around the books (which we still have)and it made such an impression on my niece that she is now studying to be a History teacher and share her love of Texas with future generations to come. That is a wonderful legacy! Our prayers are with you.

We've lost another Texas legend in Ray Miller. As a broadcast journalism student at Texas A&M in the mid-1970s, I was well aware of Ray Miller's contributions to television. Growing up in Seabrook, I had the honor to watch "The Eyes of Texas" with my parents and siblings every Saturday evening. My thoughts and prayers are with Ray Miller's family.

I met Ray over 40 years ago at RTNDA..and admired his professionalism, his devotion to quality journalism, and his support of the First Amendment. He was a leader and a major influence on local tv news..and to many of us striving to do as well in our home towns.

As former Houstonians, one of our FAVORITE programs was "Eyes of Texas". Ray's profound in-depth pursuit of the sometimes obscure was alway interesting and informative. He brought Texas history and nostalgia to the forefront.

Having known the Millers my entire life I feel great grief in the loss of these 2 wonderful people. First Veronica and now Ray, only a month later. I grew up with both Veronica and Ray, as my mother was also a war bride from Australia. I knew Gray and Geoff as a child, having spent time at their home when our parents were entertaining. I always felt proud when I watched the "Eyes of Texas" and knew Ray had such a love for our wonderful state. Ray, you have touched many lives with your kindness. God Bless you and Veronica. Gray, you and your family are in our prayers.

My husband, my mother, and I spent more than two weeks with Ray and Veronica touring Australia in 1986. What a memorable trip! Veronica even visited her family "down under," and we all enjoyed the earth's best view of Hallie's Comet.
Eight months after returning to Houston, we all gathered again at my mom's house for a Christmas party. Everybody brought pictures and shared their trip tales; as usual, Ray had some of the best stories.
:-)
I took this photo of the Millers at the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary in Brisbane, Queensland, on April 16, 1986.
Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with the extended Miller Family on the loss of both Ray and Veronica.

Some of my fondest memories are of watching "The Eyes of Texas" with my family. Thanks for Sharing "Mr. Miller" with the rest of us. Although I never had the honor of meeting him, I feel as though I knew him by watching "The Eyes of Texas". May your wonderful memories of such a great man help you through this difficult time.

My mother loved all the broadcasts that your father produced. As a native Houstonian his voice is clear and alive in my mind as it was when I was a child.
Wishing you all the warmth and love that God delivers.

Deepest condolences. Mr. Miller was one of my greatest heroes. He was the dean of Houston television news and a gold standard for all of broadcasting and journalism. May he rest in peace.
