Victoria Burgess Obituary

Victoria J. Burgess Resident of Alameda Victoria J. Burgess, daughter of Josephine and Dennis Andrews, died Sept. 22, 2010 at 2:35 p.m. She was born in Alameda, CA on Oct. 08, 1925, and resided there for the majority of her life. She was an alumnus of St. Joseph's in Alameda. Victoria was the devoted wife of E. H. (Burgie) Burgess, nurturing mother of Cathy Robin, proud and loving grandmother of Dylan Bernard, Rebecca Smith, & Rachael Robin and doting "Granny" to her great-grandchildren: Chandler & Carter Smith. She was the last surviving sibling of ten. Victoria was an avid jogger; participating in several marathons including ones in Hawaii, L.A. & many of the "Alameda Run for the Parks", She was a devout Catholic and served as a Eucharistic Minister at ST. Joseph's Basilica serving communion to care facilities, and home-bound parishioners. Her love and care for others had no bounds. She touched the lives of innumerable amounts of people through her charity work and by reaching out to those in need. She will be GREATLY missed! Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing on Monday, Sept. 27th from 5:00 - 9:00 pm with a rosary at 7:00p.m. at Greer Family Mortuary, 2694 Blanding Ave. Alameda, CA Tuesday, Sept. 28th viewing from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm at Greer Family Mortuary; then at 1:00 pm a Funeral Mass at St. Joseph's Basilica, 1190 Chestnut, Alameda followed by the burial at St. Mary's Cemetery 4529 Howe St. Oakland, CA In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations to be made to ST.
