Having spent over 50 years on this earth, I can state without hesitation that Doug was truly a rare man. Having ministered with Doug for years I witnessed the sweet Spirit of Jesus Christ touch and transform lives through Doug. Regardless of how difficult or horrible the circumstance a man would find himself in, Doug ALWAYS said the most loving of words to that man. This is not humanly possible, given the terrible circumstances we often found ourselves in with those men, but, I believe it was possible through the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit speaking through Doug. Doug was receptive to this and was Christ's hand extended in loving men in the rarest of ways; when they were down and out, full of pain, confused and just plain worn out. Doug's encouraging, loving, non-judgmental words, which I believe to be the very words of our Father in Heaven spoken through Doug, drew men of all walks of life towards our Savior, Jesus Christ, resulting in true repentance, healing and the transformation of their hearts, their minds, their destinies and purpose in this life, and the life to come. Witnessing a life transformed is a sight to behold and I had the privilege of witnessing scores of transformed lives in ministering with Doug – I am overjoyed that I was part of God's work with Doug while Doug was on this earth. I will miss you, Buddy, oh dear man of God! I rejoice with Sherry, Landon, Austin and the rest of your family and friends in knowing you are with your Commander in Chief, with no pain or regrets, but full of love and joy for eternity. Indeed, Doug was a rare man on this earth; the most loving man known in his sphere of influence.
