Leroy Hackett Obituary

Leroy Hackett Resident of Brentwood Leroy Hackett passed away peacefully at home in Brentwood on October 6, 2010. His ready smile, charismatic personality, humorous stories/ sayings will be missed by all who knew him. Leroy was born April 1, 1942 in Jackson, Mississippi, moved to Chicago as a small child before finally relocating to Oakland when he was 10 years old. He worked mainly in manufacturing in the Bay Area until he was forced into disability retirement after a serious illness in 1994. Leroy enjoyed viewing the sport of boxing and himself fought with Golden Gloves and PAL and was briefly a professional boxer. He also loved renovating his 1948 Chevy pickup. Leroy leaves to mourn, his loving wife of 19 years, Joyce. Also mourning his passing are his children, Derrick, Anthony (Renita), Timothy, and Keisha Hackett-Belcher (Ron), stepchildren Marcus Dorsey and Marcella Dorsey Khan, 11 brothers and sisters and a host of inlaws, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings. Services will be held at 2pm, Wed. Oct 13 at Chapel of the Chimes, 32992 Mission Blvd. Hayward.
