Christina de Guzman Obituary

Cristina Wu de Guzman Sept. 23, 1932 - Oct. 11, 2010 Resident of Alameda "Cristy" was an independent, strong, vibrant homemaker, incredible cook, expert gardener, and avid reader. She spoke several languages and expanded the horizons of all who touched her life. Born in Taiwan, she was the youngest "Number Five" daughter and had two brothers. She didn't just speak Taiwanese and Mandarin but as a teenager in wartime occupied Taiwan also learned to read, write, and speak Japanese. She added Tagalog as wife of beloved Manuel "Manny" de Guzman, married on December 30, 1951. Manny was taken from all of us almost 20 years ago on November 21, 1990. Cristy spoke English, too, as a Naturalized U.S. Citizen. Manny's aviation career took Cristy all over the world, including the Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam, Saudi Arabia, and finally California. Devoted Mother and Mother-in-Law of Roberto (son) and Vickie de Guzman of Tracy, Loreta (daughter) and Robert Lynch of Alameda, and Remy (daughter) and David Boyd of Alameda. Treasured Grandmother of Jorel Nicholi de Guzman, Janalynn de Guzman Nobel, Alexander Robert de Guzman, & Allister Manuel de Guzman, Heather Megan Lynch, Maxwell Robert Lynch, & John Robert Lynch, and Zachary David Boyd & Adam David Boyd. Proud Great-Grandmother of Ava Lynn (de Guzman) Nobel.
