Marie Leong Obituary

Marie Leong Resident of Oakland, CA passed away from natural causes on October 27, 2010. She was 85 years of age. Marie was born in Canton, China on November 28, 1924. She came to this country at the age of 12 and settled with her family in Sacramento, Califiornia. Marie and her family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she and her father opened and operated a restaurant in downtown Oakland through the late 1950s. Marie married Daniel Leong in 1952 and had five children together, a daughter, Robin and four sons, Greg, Scott, Clint and Dean. Marie and Daniel were happily married until Daniel's death in 1989. Marie retired from her job as an office manager for a medical practice in 1994 and settled into her new role as family matriarch. Marie is survived by her five loving children, eight grandchildren, a brother, Freeman Chan, many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, California. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetary on Thursday, November 4, 2010.
