Joseph Honcik Obituary

Joseph E. Honcik July 9, 1925 ~ Nov. 2, 2010 Resident of San Leandro Joseph E. Honcik passed away peacefully on November 2, 2010, surrounded by family. Joe was born July 9, 1925, in Howells, Nebraska, and spent his adult life in Oakland, Grass Valley, and San Leandro, CA. A combat veteran of the Second World War and the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate E First Class, and worked for 30 years at the Alameda Naval Air Station. Joe was an active member and past officer of NARFE, and an avid skier and motorcyclist. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rose Mary, and is survived by son Edward Honcik and his wife Paulene of Hayden Lake, Idaho, daughters Debra Honcik of San Leandro and Jo Ann Dallara and her husband Paul of Pleasanton, and grandchildren Charlene Honcik of Hayden Lake, and Joseph and Michael Dallara of Pleasanton. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 12 pm on Monday, November 8, 2010, at St. Felicitas Catholic Church, 1662 Manor Blvd., San Leandro. Burial will be at 10 am on Tuesday, November 9, at Sacramento Valley VA National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Rd., Dixon. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
