Anthony Giusto Obituary

Anthony John Giusto Resident of Alameda was born in Oakland, California June 19. 1920 and departed peacefully on Saturday November 6, 2010 at Alameda Hospital. He touched many lives with his spirit and outlook on life. Anthony attended Fremont High School. After high school Anthony was signed by the Cincinnati Reds baseball organization. In 1941 he was drafted into the U.S. Army. He trained as a medic and served with the 242d General Hospital Battalion in the European Theatre until his separation in 1945. Anthony retired from Pacific Bell after thirty years. Anthony was a volunteer of the American Red Cross, and Santa Claus to many children at the Alameda Naval Air Child Care Center for over fifteen years. One of his joys during his life was coaching baseball at the CYO and Babe Ruth levels. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Marie Giusto of 65 years, brother Steve and wife Mary Giusto, brother John Giusto and brother -in-law- to Teresa Ratto and Angela Ratto. Anthony was survived by his three daughters Kathy and her husband Jerry Ghiselli, Babe and her husband Doug Ladd, ToniAnn Giusto and his sister Sue Roeder. Grand-father of Tony Ghisellii and Great grandfather of Kaitlin Ghiselli. Uncle of Janet Smith, Susan Whent and her husband Murray, Mark Evans, and Merrilene Moore and her husband Jim, Tina Hill and her husband William and John Ratto and his wife Deborah. Brother-in- law of Mary and John Ratto. Family and Friends are invited to attend services and interment on Friday November 12, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Angels Funeral & Cremation Center, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 1051 Harder Road, Hayward, California.
