Mary Silva-Schenone Obituary

Mary Silva-Schenone Sept. 12, 1932 - Dec. 3, 2010 Resident of Castro Valley Mary Silva-Schenone was received by our Lord on December 3, 2010. She bravely fought the complications of metastasized breast cancer. Her strength and humor were with her as she said good bye to friends and family at Eden Hospital. She is loved and missed by her husband Howard Schenone, her son Ernest Silva, her daughter Cindi Silva, her daughter-in-law Gay Bourguignon, and her 5 grandchildren Justin, Rachael, Elise, Jennifer, and Ryan. Mary graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland and lived in Castro Valley from 1966 on. Mary worked as an office manager, bookkeeper and teller. In her retired years, she volunteered at Eden Hospital and worked with the Daffodil Days Campaign of the American Cancer Society in Oakland, California. She was an avid rose gardener, ran the Bay-to-Breakers half marathon, loved the ocean, enjoyed regular walks around Lake Chabot, and wrapped her family in knitted goods with love and warmth. Above all, she modeled unconditional love for her children and grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church in Castro Valley on Monday, December 13, at 11 a.m. Remembrances in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Cancer Society.
