As a woodwind in the Chi-Hi marching band i was lucky enough to have gotten to know Branden well. He was without a doubt one of the sweetest, hardest working, and most loved people I have ever known. I considered him a mentor and his death has left an ache deep within me, but even with that I cannot know how you must feel. Please know that he will forever be a guiding light to me and many others even as he was in life. I hope that i can make him proud and wish you the most sincere apologies i can send. He was an amazing man and i consider myself priviledged to have known him.

To Branden's family and the Chi-Hi family...

I am currently a student teacher in the Richmond, VA, area and your loss hits close to home since he, too, was completing his student teaching when the accident took place. I cannot imagine your grief -- my prayers are with you and everyone in the Chi-Hi area! May you find peace and comfort during this troubled time.

Mr.and Mrs. Atherton,

Branden was so well respected as a dedicated student teacher and friend to our Chippewa Falls marching band members. Our son, Ben is a 10th grade alto sax player and came home often this fall talking of Mr. Atherton. Our sincere wishes are that you can find peace in knowing that your son made a positive difference in so many young people's lives.

Peace.

To the Atherton Family,

My deepest sympathies are with you at this time. My being a CFMA music parent I only met Branden a few times at the meetings and the very first meeting we had he had told us about making sure the milk caps were clean before being place in the box for him to count. As with them sitting there over the summer you can imagine the smell. He will truely be missed by the students, as my daughter has called him her keyboard buddy in her Modern Music Tech class. He was a great asset to our music department. So know that our prayers are with you and your family at this time of need.

Patti and Jim- It's impossible to find the right words, and so we can only try to offer a moment of comfort in this time of incredible loss. We remember so well Branden's sweet smile and the happy times he and Mitchell spent playing with the other boys so long ago. Our thoughts are with you all. Chris and Mark Kail

Our Dearest Jim and Patti:

I believe that God searched the entire world and chose you two to be Brandon's parents, because there were many things God wanted him to learn that only you could teach him, the most important of which was a love for Jesus Christ his Savior. Take comfort in the fact that you taught him well. Sooner than we would have liked, the Lord in His wisdom called Brandon home. 'In the blink of an eye' Brandon was with his Lord in all of Heaven's glory. Praise God!, who fulfilled His promise to Brandon; a promise that one day will be fulfilled to all who believe. I pray that as you struggle through these most difficult times that you would experience God's peace, comfort and hope through your faith and also through your brothers and sisters in Christ who strive to surround you with their love.

To the Atherton Family, Jim, Patti and Katie....my deepest sympathies go out to you at this devastating time in your lives. Branden was an incredible kid. I will always remember his quiet and charming personality and the way his smile could light up a room. Over my high school years and even after....he was like a little brother....and he had no quams about teasing me like one. He will be missed so much by everyone whose life he touched....he will be especially missed by me. All my love to all of you. He is indeed with his savior now.

I will always remember Branden as the sweet blonde haired boy who used to love to make popcorn with me and watch "Fox and the Hound".

I have always enjoyed receiving updates on what Branden was doing.

He will be greatly missed.

I will cherish my memories of Branden.

My thoughts and prayers are with Branden's family and friends. I have so many good memories with Branden, one of my best friends and saxophone partner from high school. What a shame we have lost him, but at least it was while doing something that he truely loved.
