We were very sorry to hear about Cousin John's passing and wish to send condolences to his family.
My mother was Edith Boaler, the youngest of 14 McBean children and I believe Aunt Ida (John's mother) was the oldest. The McBean's were a Scottish pioneering family and stories have it that John loved spending his childhood summers on the McBean homestead near Carey, Manitoba, Canada.
I remember meeting John once when I was a young adult. I was rather shy about meeting him because my mother had told me so many stories about him. She spoke very proudly of John's musical abilities and told me that he had actually built an organ from scratch. We had a picture of John in his West Point uniform hanging in our home and Mum also spoke proudly of the fact that John was a Brigadier General in the American army.
My mother passed away 3 years ago but until that time she and John always exchanged birthday cards / Christmas cards. My Dad (will be 87 next week) asked me to extend his sympathies as well.

Our cousin John Atwood is warmly remembered by descendants of his mother’s family (the McBeans). His accomplishments as a graduate of West Point Military Academy, as a Brigadier General in the US Army, and as a talented musician were notable. Our condolences to his family and other relatives. May he rest in peace.

DEAR JOHN,
ALTHOUGH WE HAVEN'T SEEN EACH OTHER SINCE THE GOOD OLD HUGHES AIRCRAFT DAYS, I THOUGHT ABOUT YOU OFTEN. YOU WERE A TRULY LOYAL AND HONORABLE MAN. GOD BLESS YOU,ALWAYS.
