LeVonne Eloff Obituary
LEVONNE LORINE ELOFF The "Taco Queen" of North Hollywood LeVonne Eloff (82), long-time owner of Henry's Tacos in North Hollywood, passed away suddenly at home in Sherman Oaks, on Monday, April 20, 2009. Born May 16, 1926 in Hershey, Nebraska, to the late Henry and Helen (Meisinger) Comstock, LeVonne grew up in Pampa, Texas. She married Benjami n Hood of Boise City, Oklahoma, in 1943 and they had two daughters, Linda and Janis. In 1962, LeVonne came to California to join her dad in his new taco stand on the corner of Moorpark and Tujunga. Henry soon realized that LeVonne's work ethic and Southern charm were just what were needed to make Henry's a success. LeVonne quickly learned the business and her dad passed the reins to her in 1968. For the rest of her life, LeVonne poured her blood, sweat and tears into making Henry's the success that it is today. Her entire family benefited greatly from her hard work and dedication. She sacrificed her life so that her family's life could be better. A kinder, more generous person did not exist. She loved everyone and her thoughtfulness endeared her to all who knew her. A beautiful, gracious lady, inside and out. LeVonne was predeceased by her husband, John Eloff, whom many believed was "Henry" and by her beloved basset hound and Henry's mascot, Willy. She is survived by her beloved daughters, Janis Hoo d, her partner in the "taco stand", and Linda Johnson of Benton, Arkansas; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandson. Her first great great granddaughter will arrive later this year. LeVonne's daughters would like to give special thanks to her devoted employees, especially Omar Vega, who have helped keep Henry's going for her, and to her kind, patient caregiver and friend, Connie Altamirano. Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, April 27, 2009, at Angeleno Valley M ortuary in North Hollywood. Funeral will be at 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Moorpark and Lankershim, North Hollywood. Msgr. Bob Gallagher will preside. In honor of LeVonne, Henry's will be closed on the day of her service. She would want us to tell you that Henry's will be open again the next day and "thank you for coming to Henry's"! In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Charles Church or Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California are greatly appreci ated. WE LOVE YOU MOM! ANGELENO VALLEY MORTUARY Directors (818) 753-7880
