He was the husband of Nancy (Swanson) Hettinger. They recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.
Born in Reading on March 9, 1953, he was a son of the late Oliver J. and A. Adella (Dickson) Hettinger.
He owned and operated Hettinger Farms in Robeson Township and Anchor Marine in Fort Myers, Fla. He was employed by Sunline Coach Co. in 1987. He last worked as an owner-operator truck driver for Evans Delivery Service in 2006.
He was a 1971 graduate of Gov. Mifflin High School, where he was a member of FFA. He attended Denver Automotive and Diesel College in Denver, Colo.
He and his wife, Nancy, owned and operated Bay Do Embroidery, also known as Chesapeake Embroidery, also known as Maple Grove Designs, a custom embroidery business. They had the business outfitted in a trailer that they would take to dog shows, RV shows and the car and truck shows at Carlisle Fairgrounds where they did embroidery while you waited.
He was an avid boater and was always in the company of one of his beloved Chesapeake Bay Retrievers that he and his wife bred, raised and trained.
He was a life member of the Good Sam Club and OOIDA. He was a member of FMCA. He was a past member of the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum at St. Michaels, Md., where he donated many hours of his time as a volunteer.
He also is survived by a son, Bradley K., Wyomissing; and a daughter, Sabrina S., at home.
Other survivors include two sisters, Ardis Althouse, Fort Myers, Fla., and Julie Fox, Robeson Township; and a brother, David J., Reno, Nev.
There also are several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Brecknock Fire Company Hall, Route 568, Alleghenyville.
His body has been donated to Hershey Medical Center in the hope that others may benefit from our loss.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to PSC Partners Seeking a Cure, 5237 S. Kenton Way, Englewood, CO 80111. Auer Memorial Home & Cremation Services Inc., Harrisburg, is in charge of arrangements.

There is but one life we live on this earth and it is that life that we share with others along the way that makes it all worthwhile. MOH came into my life when I married his sister Ardis and remained a good brother in law until God invited him to be with Him in heaven. His spirit will now continue to live on with me always. Moh, enjoy your new disease free heavenly life with everyone that has gone on before you.
