Anita WOLCOTT Obituary

WOLCOTT, Anita Louise

Anita "Anne" Wolcott (Amos) 81, of Kettering, died early Tuesday morning, November 17, at Hospice of Dayton. She is survived by her son, William E. (Linda) Wolcott, Sr. of Ostrander, Ohio, and their children, Elizabeth (Ryan) Branton, Jennifer (Brian) Stropki and Caitlin Wolcott; daughters, Barbara (Greg) Carson of Brooklyn, Ohio, and their children, Molly Wolcott and Alex (Alexandra) Carson; and Annmarie Wolcott (Robert) Fletcher of Kettering, Ohio, and their children, Harrison and Henry Fletcher; and great-grandchildren Eli and James Branton, and Brynn Stropki. Her beloved big brother Bill's children also survive her: nephew, Andy (Dorcas) Amos, and their children; and niece, Peg (Jo) Amos. Anne was born May 26, 1939, in Newark, Ohio, to Floyd and Catherine Amos. She grew up in Chillicothe, Ohio, and graduated from Chillicothe High School. On June 16, 1956, she married William E.

Wolcott, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2007. Anne and Bill moved to Kettering in 1960, where they raised their family. They joined their neighborhood church, Southern Hills United Methodist and led the youth group on grand adventures, including trips to Washington D.C. and New York City. Anne indulged her great love of flowers and became a member of the Garden Club. In 1978 they joined Christ Episcopal Church, where they made lifelong friends, especially through their Foyer Group. Anne worked for NCR, mostly so her children could enjoy Old River and her husband could play at the golf course. They moved to Columbus in 1987 and Anne became a Legislative Assistant in the Ohio House of Representatives. She kept a jar of candy on her desk, which the Pages enjoyed raiding. While in Columbus they attended St. John's Episcopal Church and volunteered at Ohio State football games so they could watch their Buckeyes. Anne and Bill headed south for retirement--all the way to Lancaster, Ohio--and enjoyed helping with their grandchildren, who were the joy of their lives. After Bill's death Anne moved back to Kettering and reconnected with her Southern Hills friends. The work that made Anne most proud was with Kairos Ministry. She cherished the friends she met in her 20+ years with the program. Services will be held at a later date so that all family members and friends can celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Southern Hills United Methodist Church, 2287 S Dixie Drive, Kettering, Ohio 45409, or Hospice of Dayton Foundation, 324 Wilmington Avenue, Dayton, Ohio 45420.
