John HOMAN Obituary

HOMAN, John F.

John Homan passed away on December 9th at the age of 86 with the comfort of the Last Rites of the Catholic Church. John was born in Celina, Ohio, and grew up in Burketsville, OH, attending his freshman year of high school at St. Henry. John then moved to Middletown, Ohio, where he graduated from Middletown High School.

John graduated from the University of Dayton with a BS in Accounting and later graduated from Butler University with an MBA. He participated in ROTC while at the University of Dayton and spent 8 years in the Army, active and reserve, attaining the rank of Captain.

John's career was primarily spent at the Lau Blower Company, later becoming Philips Industries. John greatly enjoyed his work including his many years as Plant Manager for the Lau Indianapolis plant. He enjoyed reminiscing about the great friends and fun times had there, finishing his career as Sales Manager at corporate headquarters in Dayton, Ohio.

John enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing, woodworking and travel. He was cofounder of the RAAOOD's (Royal and Ancient Order of Old Duffers), a group of like-minded retirees. John had many great times at the lakes in Perham, Minnesota, and later southern Indiana where friends and relatives gathered together.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Al and Olive Homan and his brother Fred Homan. He is survived by his loving wife Janet Thesken Homan "Jan" and children, Daniel (Susie) Homan, Christopher (Charlene) Homan, and Nancy (Mark) Smith and grandchildren, Matthew (Anne) Homan, Alex (Erin) Homan, Nicholas, Jonathon, Danny & Sophia Homan and Rachel and Jacob Smith, and four great-grandchildren, JJ, Bee, Olive and Henry Homan.

John's greatest joy in life was spending time and having fun with his family. He always loved the children and will be sorely missed by all.

Private services are being handled by Flanner Buchanan. John will be laid to rest in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, Indianapolis. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bishop Chatard High School, Indianapolis. To leave a memory for the family visit FlannerBuchanan.com.

I always enjoyed being with John so very much. He was a great cousin and I got to see him every once in a while when I moved back to Ohio. I was so sorry to learn of his passing. I want to express my sincere sympathy to Jan and to the family. He was always very proud of all of you. May he rest in peace.
