PAUL POWERS Obituary

POWERS, Paul Allen

Paul Allen Powers, age 84, moved to heaven on December 30, 2020. He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Paul owned and operated Buckeye Painting Contractors in Springfield for over 50 years, was a 32nd degree Mason and a veteran of the US Air Force. Paul loved to fish, garden, play cards, and go to his grandchildren's ball games. He loved people unconditionally and always saw the best in everyone. He was born to the late William Smith and Thelma Jean Litteral Powers on December 27, 1936, in Bridgewater, Michigan. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Janice Lee Horne Powers; his children, Rock (Jodi) Powers of Marysville, Rhonda (Lynn) Gibson of Lancaster, Kentucky, and Renee (Matt) Williams of Springfield; his grandchildren, April (Jake) Barnes, Kylee (Paul) Dawson, Jessica (Jason) Fyfe, Travis (Elizabeth) Powers, Kala Hurn (Josh Evans), and Kiersten Hurn (Aaron Frederick); great-grandchildren, Ethan, McKinley, Macie, Emma, Avery, Madeline, Abigail, Luka, Noah, Addison and Mica; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Powers; sister, Veronica "Cookie" Chaney; and granddaughter, Crystal Lee Gibson. Due to the surging COVID-19 pandemic, the family has made the difficult decision to have a private funeral service with burial at Ferncliff Cemetery; however, loved ones and friends are invited to watch the service online via Facebook Live utilizing the Jones-Kenney-Zechman Funeral Home facebook page on Friday, January 8 at 2 pm. Memorial contributions may be made in Paul's memory to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Cincinnati. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.jkzfh.com.

Paul was a nice guy. I grew up on Holly Drive and knew him in the beginning as Rock, Rhonda & Renee's Dad but as I got older I would run in to him at the Eagles or Union Club and he was always happy.
