Wallace RIGSBEE Obituary

RIGSBEE II, Wallace Lynn

Wallace Lynn Rigsbee II, "Lynn", 61, died from complications from COVID-19 in Mercy Springfield Regional Medical Center on January 2, 2021. He often said that his greatest legacy and proudest accomplishments were in the lives of his three children, Elizabeth,

Kevin, and Jenna, who each survive him and carry on his memory. Lynn was grateful to and is also survived by his former wife, Dr. Laurie E. Buchanan with whom he raised his children.

Lynn worked as a professor of political science for many years, with the culmination of his career being the Chair of the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department at Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. A lover of history, Lynn enjoyed historical re-enacting, particularly of the French and Indian War. Lynn was fascinated by his ancestry and spent many hours studying old family photographs and researching his family line. The majority of his biological family still resides in Greensboro, North Carolina, the town where he grew up. His non-biological family stretches far and wide, and includes his students, his fellow parishioners at Christ Episcopal Church in Springfield, Ohio, and his many friends.

Lynn's fiancée, Marika Mohr, a public health nurse, resides in Grove City, Ohio, and was with him in his last moments. Finding each other four years ago, they planned to wed May 2021.

Lynn will be cremated. His family will hold a memorial service in his honor in Springfield, Ohio. A private funeral service will be held in the coming months in Greensboro, North Carolina, where Lynn will be laid to rest with his parents, Wallace and Frances Rigsbee. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made by check to Christ Episcopal Church in Springfield, Ohio, or to support student scholarships at Central State University. Dr. Rigsbee was a wonderful professor and mentor. I will forever be grateful for his guidance and support during my time at Central State University. May God bless and comfort his family during this time. He will missed!
