Daniel TIPPS Obituary

Dan was born in Lynchburg, TN, on October 10, 1940, and died June 8, 2021. He graduated from Moore County (TN) High School in 1958. After one and a half years at Berry

College in Rome, Georgia, he joined the Air Force. He was

Program and sent to University of Oklahoma when he graduated with a degree in aero-space engineering in 1964.

Dan worked at Wright-Patterson as an Air Force officer and then civilian for over 30 years in EN structure and fatigue on many planes, but his favorite was the F-16. He received a

Meritorious Civilian Service award for his work as Fracture and Durability Structure Engineer for the F-16.

After retiring from Wright-Patterson he worked at University of Dayton Research Institute as Group Leader of Flight

Systems Integrity for 17 years.

Dan coached his sons' Little League and softball teams, played golf, enjoyed bridge at the Beavercreek Senior Center, and liked attending grand children's games. He and Carolyn watched Oklahoma football games and attended Indiana

University basketball and football games. Dan served on the City of Beavercreek Park Board and was chairman several years. He was honored to receive the Director's Award for his outstanding volunteer service to the Board in 2018.

Dan's survivors include his wife Carolyn, sons Tom and Doug (Christy), grand children Kathy, Eric, Jake, Stevie, Sarah, Zach, and Matt and great-granddaughter Kendall.
