Beth Nowers, daughter of Charlotte Nowers

Dear Susan -
I learned from my uncle, who still lives in Allentown, that your mom passed away in late June. As you are probably aware, my mom Charlotte was one of her best friends in high school and after. (And their birthdays were only 5 days apart - my mom was born on May 8th!) In the past two years my mom had expressed regret numerous times that she had lost contact with your mom. Sometime this past year, during COVID, I had tried to look up your mom online, and actually traced her to where I thought she may be living in at the Otterbein Lebanon SeniorLife Community in Ohio. I was hoping to try to get our moms in touch, but with all of the traumas of this past year I regrettably never did.
My mom was doing pretty well until two months ago in early June, when she went into the nursing facility at her retirement community here in PA. I've been down here with her from my home in Maine since then. I haven't had the heart to tell her about your mom's passing, as I'm sure it will hit her pretty hard. But I wanted you to know that I'm aware of what's happened and I know my mom would be so very sad to learn about her passing. They had kept their friendship up over many years and I know that my mom really treasured their friendship. Please know that my thoughts are with you and your family.

My condolences. I knew Leona through the WCDP women's group. She will be missed.
