I was happy to get to know this great versatile athlete better in our later years. I stopped and visited him several times when he lived on Orchard St. For our 50th reunion weekend, I asked the 8 athletes in the photo on page 123 of the 1961 OPTIMIST to pose for a remake of the photo, which my daughter took for us. Jim Gillis, Tom Draut, Bill Triick, and Horace Fuller gladly posed for it. Ted Brown stepped in to replace Dave Harrington.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Coach Gillis. I have fond memories of all the great times we had with the Touchdown Club and at the Middies Football Games. He was a great man to call your Friend.
