I remember how hard it was to deal with Dick's retirement from the City. It was painful and I never thought things at work would ever gain any kind of normalacy ever again. Dick asked me if I ever put my hand in a bucket of water, stirring it up as fast and as much as I could and then pull my hand back out of the water? 'Well yeah',Im thinking to myself to which he continued to ask me what the water did when I removed my hand. " well, it went back to it's original state as though I had never stuck my hand in it at all".... "and so it will be when you go back to work...as though I had never been there at all".
He was wrong.....Dick was a beautiful person, both inside and out. Those who knew him will always have a special place in their hearts especially for Dick Bales. He will always be remembered, loved and missed.
It was such and honor and a pleasure, old friend.
