Dale was a nice guy, and was always liked. I too remember him riding his bike and stopping over to see how my Dad was doing.

We just moved into our winter house in Punta Gorda when Dale rolled into the driveway on his bike. He welcomed us with a big smile. I asked if he played golf and his eyes lit up. We played almost every week in the winter thereafter for over ten years. He would always drive so my wife would have a car. She, an avid baker, would present him with a half of a fresh baked pie upon return. His eyes would again light up. We played many friendly games and into his eighties he still beat me. The last few years in Punta Gorda, on Gulfview Rd has been a different experience for Karen and I without the presence of Dale across the street. We will continue to miss him as he was part of our PGI experience.

I recall, with affection, matriculating w/Dale in the Freshman class (and as roommates in Saylor Hall) at Baldwin-Wallace College (now, University) in September 1951. I also recall how much we enjoyed singing in a quartet with Richard(s) Ludwig and Kauffman in our high school years, Dale was also a valued companion on the varsity basketball team. And as we visited him (through his Dayton hospital window) during the period of his hospitalization in those high school years. I remember him as bright and fun-loving, and ever well-equipped with a case of 10-W-40 motor oil in the trunk of that big old Buick he drove.
While he is not now in the places where I knew him "back in the day," he is happily and firmly ensconced In the memories I accumulate in my daily travels, wherever that may be.
Thanks, Dale, sincerely! I hope this "thank-you" note reaches you, wherever you are.
