Eugene JACKSON Obituary

JACKSON, Eugene Francis

"Be comfortable with love and you will enjoy the adventure of life." Eugene Francis Jackson, lovingly known as "Gene," and "Little Gene," age 74 of Dayton, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2022. He was born November 7, 1947 in Dayton, Ohio, the son of the late Eugene C. and Marjorie (Wertz) Jackson. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Robert (Brenda) Jackson. Gene is survived by his son,

Eugene Dario Jackson; daughter, Azucena Jackson; siblings, Patricia (Thomas) Rau, Sue (Robert) Mencia, Jeffrey (Esther) Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family; mother of his children, Sorania Vallecillo; as well as many loving friends. Gene was a retired teacher with Dayton City Schools, but was still very active in the lives of his students. Additionally, he continued to teach at DPS, Central State University, Xenia City Schools, and Yellow Springs Schools. After winning the Singles Division in a handball tournament in Bowling Green, OH, Dayton's legendary player suffered a fatal head injury during the Doubles. Gene was a renowned and celebrated player and had won many trophies. However, the biggest trophies and the greatest joys in his life are his children. Visitation and Celebration of Gene's Life will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Presidential Banquet Center (4548 Presidential Way, Kettering, Ohio 45429). I was stunned to learn of Gene's passing. I had been trying to contact him to get together on a trip planned to Cincinnati in the Fall. We were long time handball partners until moving to Arizona many years ago. I will miss our conversations several times a year. My sincerest condolences to his family and children. Rest in peace Gene and keep your gloves close by.

Mr. Jackson you were and will forever be one of the rarest teachers I had the honor to be a pupil to. Teacher/Mentor/Father figure to many; you truly served your purpose and mission by touching the lives of children and provoking us to fulfill our dreams. Thank you kindly sir- for your selfless contributions. Rest well and enjoy the good side! Asha Huffman (Now White)

Gene was a very important part of my life. I loved him dearly and will miss him very much. He meant the world to me. He was such a loving person, he never stopped telling me how much I meant to him. My heart aches for his children, his brother and sisters, and his whole family. I´d like to make a donation to the Dario and Azucena Fund when it´s set up. My heartfelt and deepest condolences.

Gene you were the best cousin any of us could have ever hoped for. Your smiles and laughter kept all of us wanting you to continue whatever it was you were talking about! Your life was all about enjoying ever moment and you instilled that in all you came into contact with over the years...especially all of those young lives that entered your classrooms. To say you will be missed is an understatement. You, obviously, played the game of life to it's fullness and you have taught all of us to live the same way. Enjoy your peaceful rest and reunion with your parents and all of the aunts and uncles who, I am sure, greeted you with open arms. God bless you and all of us who will try to carry on your love for this life we have been given.

Gene was a very positive and friendly person who touched many lives and made this world a better place. As we all continue in life we can honor Gene by conducting our lives in the same manner and make this world a better place. Our prayers and sympathy go out to his family and friends...

Gene and I were friends since we were eight years old. He was as much a part of my life as my own family, but I know that his love for people knew no bounds. A part of me has gone with him.

I was playing with Gene when the tragic event occurred. Gene was a true gentleman and an avid competitor. All of your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

What a shock it was to learn of Gene's death. Gene was a friend of sixty years - always upbeat and loyal. Perpetually glad to see you. He was so kind and caring to me and my family. My parents so enjoyed him being around - he visited them in their later years and they beamed when talking about him. I saw Gene last month when I was in town - we met for a glass of wine at Salar. As was always the case, he could not stop talking about his kids - how much he loved them and how proud he was of them. And so to Jeff, Sue and Pat - and especially to his son and daughter who were the lights of his life - Linda and I mourn with you. May you rest in peace, my good friend.
