BETTY DEWALD Obituary

DeWALD, Betty Lou

Betty Lou DeWald, 74, of Springfield, Ohio, passed away on July 22, 2022, in Springfield Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Donald DeWald Sr., three children: Donald DeWald Jr., Thomas (Christina) DeWald and Debra (Paul) Jones; three grandchildren: Paul (Amy) Jones, Kelly (Derrek) Sigmon and Thomas DeWald Jr.; five great-grandchildren: Oliver, Violet, Cole, Levi and Emilia and her little dog, JoJo. She was preceded in death by her parents; Winfred and Ethel (Hall) Conley, who she is now reunited with. Betty always had a quick wit to joke but she also had an understanding word when times were tough. She enjoyed watching westerns, online shopping and she loved being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's. Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Tuesday in the JONES-KENNEY-ZECHMAN FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Jim Welch officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the services. Burial will follow in Ferncliff Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at www.jkzfh.com.

She was the most amazing woman I'll ever know. Her courage against arthritis filled me with a courage that I too could conquer the challenges in my life. From walking away from a lucrative career to earning two college degrees with honors. From passing my boards to entering into a new career that she encouraged me to strive for.

From insisting I get this crazy little Jack Russell to having her to thank for the 17 years of magic that ensued. She did too many amazing things to list. But she's defined not just by what she did, but by who she was. She was brutally honest, knowledgeable, intelligent, loving, caring, n witty. She was always exactly what I needed and her support lifted me to heights i would never have reached. She was always guiding me down a better path than I could've ever found alone.

A friend n collegue recently said she talked glowingly of me n was very proud. Nothing in life meant more than hearing that! But Mom, welcome to the mutual admiration society! You inspired, supported, n loved me in a way that made you (and dad) my hero! I will always cherish the magnificence that was you n use it to shape me into an ever better person. Rest easy my dear sweet Mama, I love you now...I'll love you always!
