Richard W. Dewald, 80, passed away peacefully on February 19, 2026, in Jersey Shore at his home. Richard was born on August 6, 1945, in Lock Haven to the late Jay W. and Vincentia A. (Giannone) Dewald. Richard lived a life full of warmth and kindness, bringing joy to all who knew him.
Richard dedicated many years of his working life to Jersey Shore Steel, from where he retired as a Custodial Maintenance Technician. He was known for his strong work ethic and friendly demeanor, which earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and friends.
In his leisure time, Richard found joy in simple pleasures. He loved riding his bicycle around town, a familiar and friendly figure to many who would see him pedaling by with a wave and a smile. He cherished moments spent visiting and hanging out with friends and family. Richard also enjoyed listening to the radio, finding solace and delight in the stories and music that filled the airwaves.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Elmer Dewald. He leaves behind a loving family, including his brother, David Dewald; sisters Mary Gephart and Susan (Jerry) Hackenberg; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom will miss him dearly.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30AM on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 118 Kendall Ave, Jersey Shore to honor and celebrate Richard's life. Richard will be interred alongside his parents and brother in Resurrection Cemetery.
