Jonathan ALDEN Obituary
Age 76, of Kettering, Ohio, passed away on November 1, 2022. He was born on February 21, 1946, in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Jonathan and Gladis Alden. John is survived by his loving wife of 30 years Cathy Alden; son Aric Chilcote; children Darcy Alden, Jonathan Alden, and their mother Nancy Blackburn; granddaughter Nevada Alden; Good friends Billy Darnell, Peter Bradstreet, David Kreitser, Bill Moy, and Sandy Kreitser. John's life was all about music. He was an incredible acoustic guitarist and was a member of numerous rock bands, including Jonathan and Leigh, Starbucks, Dayton Yellow Springs Band, and Electric Range. John loved dancing while cooking in the kitchen, especially while making Buck Benny Casserole. He was loved and will be missed, especially by the love of his life Cathy. Celebration of life will be held at 4 PM on Monday, November 14, 2022, at a loft in Dayton.

To Cathy and John's family: Hey, remember that he used to play baseball, too. Second baseman on my Little League team, back in the dark ages. John and I grew up pretty much together until he was sent to Col. White and I went to Fairview. We reunited during his days with Jonathan and Leigh. It was a thrill to hear them playing at the Lemon Tree! My sincerest sympathies to you all. I know he'll be missed.

John was a what Gram Parsons would have called "God's Own Singer". I'm honored to have had him as a friend, singing partner, and inspiration.
One of my all-time Alden tales has to be the strawberry pie. He and Kathy were at our house, someone mentioned the classic seltzer bottle/pie in the face revenge tactics. Vince and Kathy took off to the grocery; while John and I stayed back, creating makeshift barricades. Kathy and Vince came back w/3 strawberry pies and a tub o' coolwhip. I had forgotten how fun it is to throw food. Walls:Pink. Floor: Cool Whip skating rink. Skin: Burning from strawberry acid.
Also, John swore that Dwight Yoakam stole all of his stage moves and persona.
