Bob Thompson Obituary

Thompson, Bob

Age 67, of Springboro, passed away April 3, 2023. He was born August 24, 1955 in Lexington, Kentucky; the son of James Robert and Helen Dees Thompson. Bob is preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Bonnie (Singer) Thompson; daughter, Corry Thompson; son, Jon Thompson; mother, Dees; and numerous extended family members and friends. Bob was an educator inside and outside the classroom. He began his career as a Social Studies teacher and football coach. His passion and knowledge led him to become an administrator in multiple school districts. After his retirement, he continued to contribute to education by mentoring new teachers. He was a role model for the hundreds of young men and women he saw on a daily basis. Many adults walk with their heads higher from his words of wisdom. Bob was a teacher in every aspect of the word. During his life, he enjoyed summer vacations at Hilton Head Island with family and friends. Bob never knew a stranger. He was an active member of St. Henry Parish and gained great pleasure in assisting those who needed him. Family and friends will miss his endless stories. Bob will be remembered as a loving family man, especially a devoted son. A visitation for family and friends will be Monday, April 10, 2023 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Routsong Funeral Home, 2100 E. I think about Bob almost everyday. Many times I ask myself WWBD What would Bob do? I just love this man. I hope he is looking down on me and not being too disgusted with my unlike Bob behavior at times. Bob please come and waft your spirit around us. You made me a better man.

Bob was a classmate in Jr. High and at Stebbins High School. I remember him as a friendly guy with a smile and chuckle at the ready. My youngest brother, Thomas, had Bob as a football coach at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio and really liked him.
Bob was a special guy liked by everyone, and he will be missed. Sending prayers and condolences to his family .

My thoughts and prayers are with the Thompson family today. I was very sorry to hear about Bob's passing. He was a wonderful husband to Bonnie, father to his children, and a loving son to his mom, Dees. I will never forget his laughter, smile, and kindness to me whenever I would care for his mom.

So many great memories in the Classroom and on the Football field. He was an excellent Teacher and a Great Football Coach. Mr T, as I called him, alwayed made me feel special when talking about our past together. Humerous stories and just great wisdom! I do not think I ever saw him without a smile on his face. I truly respected and loved the man. Although I did not see him often, he is someone I will never forget. Love you and Miss you Mr T. Brad Harvey.

Bonnie and family:

I know Bob and Bonnie from their time teaching at Johnstown-Monroe High School 1979-1983. Both great teachers. Mr. Thompson was one of my favorite teachers as I love history. He made learning interesting and engaged his students. I can still hear his booming voice. Bonnie, I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers to you and your family and hope that the memories you have made over the years will give you comfort.

I knew Big Bob since Beverly Gardens Elementary to Page Manor to Mad River Junior High to Spinning Hills Junior High to Stebbins High School. One of the greatest people you would ever want to meet. We spent a lot of time at Page Manor school yard passing the football and pick up games. The world was a better place with him in it. Your school yard buddy.......Jim Treinen

Bonnie, Corry, and John
As you have heard over the past few days Bob was a great man. To me he was like a big brother. His demeanor and life attitude is something I wish to emulate everyday. I first met your family when my daughter and John were at Gecklers pre-school, then I changed jobs and started working at MTC. A year or two into that Bob became my administrator. Even in his early days he made a huge impact on my life. Eventually I went to Butler Tech at DRL and lo and behold Bob soon would become my building principal. I cannot count the time his mentoring and care saved me professionally and personally. He always made me feel important. I loved him more than words can say. My hope for you, is that through the coming months and years you remember that your husband and father was the definition of a good man. I pale in comparison. But I will try to be to someone what he was to mean. All my love and hugs.

I apologize for the poor format . I thought I would have an opportunity to clean up spacing punctuation etc .
As I stated Bobby T deserved the best version of oneself . This was not my best .I hope you can overlook that and know what his friendship meant to me .

I was hired by MCSD in 1992 and when I first arrived I kept hearing this name Bobby T,Bobby T over and over again .

I can not pin point when we first met but when we did I understood instantly why there was such affection for Bobby T .

As we grew to know each other he would always greet me "Hey Tim Glauer, How is Tim Glauer today ?

Through the years I would often stop by his office at the end of the day.
When he had a tough as we all do from time to time in this profession Bobby T would say" Tim Glauer today they threw me out the saloon door, right out onto the dirt ." I would laugh and with his stern look he would say "Tim Glauer what do you think is so funny ? He would then burst out in his Bobby T laugh and we would fist bump and move on to the next topic !

This is what made him special he had it all wisdom ,humor ,wit !

The MCSD was so fortunate to have this man as a role model for the youth of Middletown !

Every position whether it was teacher coach ,AD ,principal he took pride in putting his best foot forward !

However; there was never any doubt what was his top priority in life and that was his family !

Bonnie, Corry ,and Jon with the sudden nature of his passing no doubt there is an open wound !
My prayers are that in time you will experience healing ,comfort and peace knowing your dad Bobby T will always be remembered and admired for being THE BEST !
