Gerald D.O. Obituary
Gerald Rubin, D.O., died at the age of 91 on November 12, 2023. He was born in Buffalo, New York to parents Isadore and Sophia Rubin. His three siblings are deceased.
His wife, Sue and two sons, Brad (Julia) Rubin and Dan (Michelle) Rubin survive him. The oldest son Sloan Rubin is deceased. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
Dr. Rubin was in family practice in Dayton for 30 years and then taught for 30 years at the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Ohio University. He enjoyed tennis and gardening, but was most passionate about his family and medicine.
Private family services will be held at Alexander Cemetery, Athens. Arrangements are with Jagers & Sons Funeral Home, Athens. Please share a memory, a note of condolence or sign the online register at www.jagersfuneralhome.com.

Dr Rubin was our family doctor in Dayton from 1963 to 1979. In 1979we moved back to Indiana. He was wonderful. I thought he and I were the same age; however I see from his obituary that he was 2 years older than I am. I´m 91 now. I´ve been thinking about him a lot lately. So I chose to look him up. I wrote a breastfeeding paper. He liked it so much that he asked if he could give it to his patients who were expecting. I said "Yes, of course." I wanted us to be friends, but he said we couldn´t do that because he was our doctor. I understood. I would rather give you my phone # than email.

I was saddened to hear of Dr. Rubin’s passing. I was very fortunate to have know him personally and professionally. He was an intelligent, kind, compassionate and caring physician. Most importantly he was genuinely a truly good person and I will miss him.

Dr. Rubin was a wonderful professor during my time at OUCOM, and then became a kind and helpful colleague when I joined the faculty after residency. He was always ready with a smile and a kind word. The way he talked about patient care, it was obvious what a wonderful family physician he had been. Thank you for sharing your husband and father with so many generations of grateful DOs! He was an awesome human being :)
